Indiana High School Football Scores - Week 1

Indiana High School Football Huddle
Carmel won the battle of #2's Friday night as the Greyhounds beat Indianapolis Cathedral 28-21.

Welcome to our new look for the 2010 Indiana high school football season!
With the first day of practice beginning August 4th, I wanted to take the time to thank all of my readers, who have made this blog successful over the past three years. I have bigger-and-better things planned this year with more original content.

Indianapolis Colts to Host Eight High School Football Games

Indiana High School Football Huddle
It's no secret that the Colts are big supporters of high school football in the Hoosier State.
So it should come as no surprise that for the second year in a row, the Colts and Lucas Oil Stadium will host two days of football quadruple-headers this season. The Horseshoe Classic will be played August 28th, while the Horseshoe Hall of Fame Classic will be played September 11th.
In addition to hosting the state championship games, the Colts are also the presenting sponsor for championship weekend in November.
Below is the schedule for both days of the Horseshoe Classics:

Carmel Brings in a Familiar Face as New Head Football Coach

After a stop in Oklahoma and Kentucky, former Warren Central High School head football coach Kevin Wright is back in Indiana as a head coach.
Wright, who led Warren Central to three straight Class 5A Indiana state championships, is Carmel's new head football coach. The Indy Star reports that Wright was chosen out of a group of 20 applicants.

South Side High School's Brandon Crawford Chasing NFL Dream at 33 Years Old

America loves an underdog...and Brandon Crawford is someone I'll be rooting for later this week when the NFL holds its annual draft.
New York Times writer Judy Battista does a great job of profiling the 33-year old South Side High School (Ft. Wayne) player, who after a stint in the Marines joined the Ball St. football program, and now has an outside shot at the NFL.
Here's hoping that one NFL makes a decision with their heart and calls out his name in New York City later this week!

Edinburgh HS Lures Unsworth Coach Out of Retirement

The Indy Star is reporting that 61-year old Bill Unsworth is coming out of retirement to take over the Edinburgh High School football program.
Unsworth, who retired two years ago after coaching for nearly 30-years on the collegiate level, last coach at the high school level in 1977 at Franklin. Unsworth takes over for Kyle Wheeler, who was fired earlier this year after winning only one game in four seasons.
Last season the Lancers snapped a 51-game losing streak with a 12-7 win over Indiana Deaf.

Western Boone Hires Former Carmel Assistant as New Head Coach

First Carmel lost its head coach Mo Moriarity to Indiana University, now offensive coordinator Jed Richman is leaving the Greyhounds to take the head coaching job at Western Boone.
The Indy Star is reporting that Richman is excited to follow in the footsteps of Jeff Pearson, who retired after 25-years at the school.
